What class is right for my child?
Our program is designed for families! Check out the class descriptions below and if you're not sure which class is right for your family, get in touch with us!
Mixed Ages class is ideal for children from birth to age 5, making this class perfect for siblings. This class is sometimes available in a bilingual (English/Spanish) option, Music Together® con Espanol.
Parents with Babies is developed for our youngest music makers from infancy to 8 months (or when they begin to crawl).
Rhythm Kids® class is for our bigger kids ready to explore new musical concepts, musical games and rhythm stories and is suitable for ages 4-8.
Why Mixed Ages?
We use the Mixed Ages class to support the strongest development in your child. It ensures an unpressurised environment because they aren't comparing themselves to others. Music develops at a different rate in each child, depending on their exposure. A class with mixed ages provides your child the opportunity to be both a leader and a participant.
Can siblings register for the same class?
Yes! This is the beauty of the Music Together program. Our Mixed Ages class is designed for children of different ages (from 0 - 5), which makes it the perfect option for families with siblings of different ages. Bonus, children less than 8 months old joining their sibling in a Mixed Ages class are free-of-charge!
What session materials are included in my class tuition?
Your tuition includes a beautifully illustrated session songbook, which is yours to keep! You will also receive a Family Music Code to download this session's digital music. You will have a chance to request an optional CD (or additional CDs) with this session's music during registration.
How long is the session?
Sessions are typically 8-10 weeks in length, but there are times when we offer special mini sessions with varying lengths. Before registering you can see all meeting days and times for a specific class.
How long is each class?
Classes are between 30 - 45 minutes in length.
Can I join in the middle of a session?
Absolutely! We welcome families to join us at any point through a session (where space allows) and the price for your class will be prorated automatically during checkout. If we are meeting for in-person classes, we will deliver your class materials to your first class.
Does the music change each session?
Yes! There are nine non-sequential song collections, each characterized by its own graphic, colour and instrument. These collections each include a recording and songbook and are designed to be used one collection per semester. Each semester introduces a new collection—including music recordings & songbook—so families can begin Music Together classes at any time with any collection.
What safety precautions are in place?
Our safety precautions are constantly being reviewed. For the latest information, please visit our safety precautions page.
What would I bring to an outdoor class?
Dress for the weather! We recommend checking the forecast and dressing in layers. If necessary, bring along sunscreen, raincoats, hats or mitts.
Bring your instruments - Whether purchased or DIY, we encourage each participant (child & adult) to bring the following instruments to class for the play-along: egg shaker, sticks, jingle bell, drum and scarf.
Bring a blanket to our spring, summer and fall classes - Your family will be asked to sit and stand throughout the session (dependent on weather/season). Bring a big blanket for your family to gather on and keep in mind that it may get wet and dirty. Winter session do not require a blanket.
What happens if the weather is bad during an outdoor class?
Part of hosting our classes outdoors means embracing the weather and dressing appropriately. If classes are cancelled due to weather, you will receive an email from your teacher with a Zoom link to join the class virtually from your home. There are only a few occasions where we will not meet in-person for classes:
Rain - more than just a drizzle
Thunder or lightning
Temperatures above 35° C
Temperatures below -10 ° C
Stormy weather, including high winds
If your class is cancelled, we will contact you by email or phone (if necessary). You can also watch our social media feeds (Facebook or Instagram) or the news section on our homepage for the latest information.
